Subcontractor Forms
A subcontractor is an individual or a business that performs part or all of the obligations of another’s contract. By hiring subcontractors, the general contractor receives the same or better service than the general contractor could have provided by hiring employees and training them on the specific type of work. The risk is lower because subcontractors have specialized skills and are generally responsible for supplying their own tools and materials.
This group of downloadable forms includes:
Subcontract Policy
This form is a general policy statement by the general contractor informing the subcontractor of what’s expected. Remember that your work is only as good as the work of your least competent sub. If a subcontractor doesn’t work out, it shouldn’t be due to lack of communication. This agreement makes very clear exactly what you expect from your subcontractors. You can use this form on nearly any type of subcontract work.
Subcontractor Agreement
The Subcontract Agreement is not specific to a job and is more detailed then the Subcontract Policy. This agreement is used on a project that lasts a long time and/or the subcontractor has a major role in the project. In other words, you are dependent upon this subcontractor to perform and comply.
Subcontractor Insurance Verification Log
The purpose of this log is to organize, in one place, information about insurance coverage for each of your subcontractors. This is a handy form for organizing the information and a quick check to see if you’ve gathered everything needed for each subcontractor. In addition, you’ll use this information several times during the year, including during your annual workers’ comp and general liability audits.
